The male lion appears to intervene as the hyenas press down on nearby members of the carrion-eating pride.

Lions can sometimes chase away hyenas, but the effect depends on numbers, age and whether other lions are nearby.

Male lions usually do not stay in their breeding pride for long; they often leave or are forced out as they get older and later form alliances.
In the tense video at the top of this page, a young male lion comes to protect his siblings! The scene opens with a group of hyenas surrounding a pride of lions, spread out in two small groups. The hyenas are getting closer to the two lions eating the carcass. When the hyenas approached one of the two lions, the young lion roared towards them. Phrygians take this as a clear sign to clear up a bit.
But after a few seconds, the hyenas begin to close again. Then, from another small group of lions of the same pride, stood a young child. His head is down and he is staring at the monsters that are tormenting his brothers, his intentions are clear. As soon as the male started towards the hyenas, he immediately turned back again. By giving a wide space to the two lions they were harassing in the beginning, the hyenas seem to realize that the challenge they had planned is impossible.
Sometimes a single lion can chase away many hyenas, but the results depend on the number of hyenas present and whether other lions are nearby.

As the males grow, they may be more visible around carcasses and in social interactions, but male lions are usually taken out of their pride at about 2.5 to 4 years of age. They often form alliances with brothers or other males after they leave their pride, because cooperation improves their chances of survival and eventually taking over the pride. In a lion population, related females are the stable foundation of the pride, while males often disperse and later live as nomads or in groups before attempting to establish a pride of their own. Members of female prides are often closely related, while male alliances are often based on brothers or other male partners who work together after a breakup.
Both now locked up, the hyenas try to get around the lions. But the kings of the kingdom refused to be intimidated, having already spoken their case. The hyenas approach the lions who eat the last. But now that they are facing three lions, they lose hope. The hyenas finally give up, and one by one they turn tail and run. Lions keep what they want, and hyenas will have to try to steal from someone else!

The young male lions in the video at the top of the page may be helping their pride now, but soon they will be gone! The life of a male lion is not easy, there are different problems that arise at each stage of life. In the first stages, male lion cubs have a close-knit and strong family. They form strong bonds through playful interactions and grooming rituals that form the basis of their social structure. From birth until they are about two years old, they play in the safe care of their mother, aunts and siblings. For male lion cubs in particular, early social interactions can help form future alliances, which can later help them challenge other males and take prides.
From about two to four years old, male lions become young and approach the age at which they normally leave or are forced out of their pride. This phase is a training ground for the challenges ahead. During this period, they continue to develop strength and social skills, but this period is often followed by a disintegration from the pride of nature. All of this serves as a training ground for the challenges that lie ahead.
